Apple Adds Tips and Tricks Guide for iPhone 4s 5c and 5s to iPhone Website

Apple has added new Tips and Tricks sections to its iPhone marketing websites, giving new and old iPhone users a handy guide to the new features of iOS 7 and the new iPhone models.

The three pages, one each for the iPhone 4s, 5c and 5s, include sections about photography, swipe gestures, FaceTime, Maps, Siri, Calendar, Music, Mail, Safari, AirPlay and Wireless, Settings, Compass, and Find My iPhone.

The pages, which are linked at the bottom of every iPhone marketing webpage on Apple.com, appear to be something of a quick start guide, complimenting the more in-depth iPhone User Guide.

Roundup Detailed iPhone 6 Mockups in Several Colors Compared to iPhone 5s HTC One M8 Samsung Galaxy iPod Touch Videos

Unlike number photos and videos that compared iPhone 6 mockup with several devices including the iPhone 5s, a new video from Macitynet has a highly detailed comparison of a good quality 4.7-inch iPhone 6 mockup beside Apples iPhone 5s, showing accurately all of the prospective the design differences.

In addition to the taller and wider due to the larger 4.7-inch display, the iPhone 6 physical mockup looks much thinner than the 7.6mm iPhone 5s, the differnce is expected to be actually around 6mm.

The iPhone 6 mockup is close to ipod touch-style it to iPhone 5s, at least in the curved edges, microphone holes, and the rectangular volume buttons. The mockup also shows the sleep/wake button on the top right hand side, in line with earlier reports that have indicated to the changing of the button, in order to facilitate the use of the device with one hand. There are also the camera and a redesigned circular flash that replaces elongated shape in the iPhone 5s, which suggests the possibility that Apple has found a way to combine its existing dual-LED True Tone flash into a single LED.

In addition to this video various images and videos showed iPhone 6 mockups next to several devices, including Apples iPod touch, iPhone 4s, 5s, and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Also have emerged several videos conjunction with this video, depicted iPhone 6 mockups compared to a several other devices, like that compared (via 9to5Mac) HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 with iPhone 6 mockup, while the other (via 9to5Mac) showed Gold and Space Gray iPhone 6 mockup next to iPhone 5s and iPod touch 5G, as displayed below respectively.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 6 in two sizes of 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches later this year. Besides to larger screen, next generation-iPhone is expected to sport an ultra-thin design with rounded edges. It may include A8 processor with 1GB RAM, Touch ID fingerprint sensor and an upgraded camera featuring optical image stabilization. Jefferies analyst Peter Misek reported that Apple is negotiating with carriers for a $100 price increase on the iPhone 6 as the device gets larger and the company packs more technology into it.

Apple Created These Neat Tools To Make The iPhone More Repairable Than Ever

Despite launching to record breaking sales numbers in September, Apple’s iPhone lineup has come under fire again and again for its apparent lack of repairability.

Catherine Rampell at the the New York Times went on a bullshit parade two weeks ago claiming Apple tries to make your iPhone break so you have to buy a new one. Even Apple fans like our pal Kyle Weins, at iFixit, bemoaned Apple for not making the iPhone 5s more repairable for users.

To consumers, the locked enclosures of the iPhone 5s may seem like a guarded unfixable fortress, but the truth is that the iPhone 5s is one of Apple’s most repairable devices ever, you just have to be a Genius to get all the tools. A tipster behind the Genius Bar has shown us Apple’s latest official repair videos for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c that showcase the emphasis Jony Ive and the design team placed on repairability when creating the latest iPhones, as well as the crazy little repair tools Apple uses to ensure quality repairs.

Each of the 12 training videos we saw provided detailed animations of the iPhone 5s and 5c internal components, as well as guides on how to access and swap six components on the device – speaker, receiver, vibration motor, iSight camera module, battery, and sim ejector tool.

One of the factors contributing to the iPhones’ image of irreparability is it’s so damn hard to open one of these things and that’s precisely the way Jony intended it. Apple says you need all five of these specialized tool just to swap out an iPhone 5c component:

  1. iPhone torque driver
  2. Security bit
  3. Nylon probe tool (black stick)
  4. Universal Display Removal Fixture
  5. Official iPhone 5c Repair Tray
Unofficial guides like iFixit’s iPhone repair instructions call for users to lift the screen with a single suction cup and then pry it off, but Apple has developed the iPhone 5c repair tray to allow Geniuses to quickly open the display and swap components without breaking the display flex cable. They even have an “iPhone Battery Fixture” that’s basically a weighted roller that applies the perfect amount of pressure between a battery and its new adhesive tabs.

The training videos are packed full of info that show how Apple’s streamlining its repairs process and the nuances that go into swapping even the smallest iPhone components. We haven’t got our hands on a full copy of the videos yet, but we’ll have more to come. Stay tuned.

Rumor Big screen iPhone 6 coming Sept 2014 Apple to focus on one handed use

The details come from Japanese magazine Mac Fan, which were summarized on Tuesday by Macotakara . The report claims Apples next-generation iPhone may sport a 1,920-by-1,080-pixel 5-inch display packing in 440 pixels per inch.

It was claimed that Apple plans to make both sides of the screen as "thin as possible." That could allow the company to promote the "iPhone 6" as the first "phablet" able to be operated with one hand.

The appeal of one-hand operation was already something Apple already focused on when it released the iPhone 5, sporting a larger 4-inch display, in 2012. That was an increase from the 3.5-inch display size found on all previous iPhone models.

The magazine that serves as the source of the latest rumor isnt known for leaking information about Apple products, and thus does not have an established track record. But there have been multiple claims that Apple may be planning to release a larger screened version of the iPhone in 2014.

Most notably, well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities said in September that Apple is apparently planning to release a new handset with a screen size between 4.5 and 5 inches. He said that the company is unlikely to release anything larger than 5 inches due to the companys "unwavering principle of one-hand use."

So-called big-screen "phablets" have become increasingly popular in the smartphone market, with Samsung leading the way in terms of selection. The Korean firms recently released Galaxy Note III features a 5.7-inch display, while the Galaxy Mega comes close to being a small tablet with a 6.3-inch screen.

BBM Crashing Under iOS 7 0 3 Here’s How To Fix It

After finally getting BBM on your iPhone this week, you may have upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 to find it no longer works properly. One of the fonts BlackBerry uses in its app is no longer supported by Apple, causing the app to crash when you open existing chats. But there is a way around it.

All you need to do is kill all of your existing conversations and start new ones. It means you’ll lose your chat history, but there’s really no way to avoid that, unfortunately — unless you just want to wait for BlackBerry to issue an update. If you can’t, here’s what you need to do:
  1. Open up the BBM app and make sure you’re looking at the “Chats” page.
  2. Tap and hold on one of your chats until the menu bar slides out from the right.
  3. Now tap the trash can icon (bottom right) to delete the chat.

You’ll need to do this for every conversation, but once it’s done, you’ll be able to chat to those contacts again. You may have noticed that this issue doesn’t affect contacts you hadn’t opened conversations with prior to updating to iOS 7.0.3.

The alternative to this workaround — if you have loads of conversations and can’t be bothered to delete them all one-by-one — is to delete BBM and install it again from the App Store. Alternatively, if you’re not in any rush to fix it, you can just wait for BlackBerry to issue an update. The Canadian company has acknowledged this problem, and it’s told us an update should be available today.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Galaxy Note 3 to get Android 4 4 update in January

Samsung has been tight-lipped about the rollout of Android 4.4 KitKat for its premium smartphones, including its 2013 flagships, the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3.However, French carrier, SFR has claimed that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end-of-January and in early-February respectively. The French carrier has also revealed that it will announce the exact dates for the update release soon.
The Android 4.4 KitKat iteration brings some new features such as the translucent menu bar, which is located at the bottom of the screen; new dialler and caller ID; unified Hangouts messaging app; smarter Google Now integration; step counter and detector, and support for screen recording. Its worth pointing out that Samsung uses its TouchWiz UI on top of the Android OS and it is still to be seen, what changes are introduced in the new company UI.
Samsung has still been pushing the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for its top of the line smartphones that include the 2012 flagship, Galaxy S III; and its 2013 flagships, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note II.
Notably, the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note II brings Galaxy Gear support, Samsungs first wearable tech device, which only supported the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition at the time of launch.
In November, Google and Samsung released the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, soon after the HTC One Google Play Edition received the update.
Smartphone manufacturers such as HTC, Motorola and Sony had already revealed plans for the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade soon after the release of the new OS. However, Samsung has been a late entrant for announcing the Android 4.4 KitKat update for its Galaxy line of smartphones.

Samsung to launch Galaxy S5 with iris scanner by April

A VP at Samsung has confirmed the company will be launching its latest smartphones flagship, the Galaxy S5, by April. The executive vice president of mobile business at Samsung - Lee Young Hee - has shed some light on companys future plans about the Galaxy S5 flagship.
Just like its Galaxy S4 predecessor, Samsung is once again targeting March for the official announcement and April for the release date for the Galaxy S5. This means the manufacturer wont be bringing any flagship phones on the upcoming MWC in Barcelona next month.
Since the Galaxy S5 is going against Apples latest iPhone 5s and in the meantime it should be prepared for the upcoming iPhone 6, Samsung is considering a fingerprint sensor and an iris scanner options. Thus it will not only catchup with the competition but will go way ahead of it. According to Mrs. Lee, the company is exploring its options, so this is no guarantee the iris recognition technology will make it to the Galaxy S5 in time for release.
A brand new design is going to be one of the Galaxy S5 key features. Samsung has acknowledged the users werent impress at all with the Galaxy S4 reused design and thats why the company has gone "back to the basics" and created its new flagship from scratch. Here is what Lee Young Hee is saying about the new design:

"When we moved to S4 from S3, it’s partly true that consumers couldn’t really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasnt as big. For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, its about the display and the feel of the cover."
Meanwhile gossip also has it that Samsung is working on a three-sided display for the Galaxy Note 3 successor. The innovative screen will let you see various notifications on the sides of your phone. Samsung has already demonstrated similar technology before, so it wont be a surprise if we actually see it implemented in the next flagship phablet. All this new technology also has a downside however and in this case it is the higher cost. Mrs. Lee confirms: "We are targeting consumers who want more professional use and tend to be willing to pay more for handsets".
Finally, Mrs. Lee unveiled Samsung is working on a second generation wearable device to replace the Galaxy Gear. It will add more functionality (especially health-related) and reduce the bulkiness. It will premiere with the Galaxy S5.
So, with most of these coming straight from Samsung, its almost certain to come out true. So if you ever worried that Samsungs well of innovation is starting to dry up, you dont have to anymore.

Twin boys stabbed to death by their brother who then killed himself

9 year old twin brothers Patrick and Thomas ODriscoll were stabbed to death yesterday September 4th by their older half brother Jonathan, 20, who then killed himself about an hour later. Read the full story below...

Nine-year-old Patrick and Thomas O’Driscoll were dressed in their school uniforms when found dead in separate bedrooms by their younger brothers, aged three and five.
Their half-sibling Jonathan, 20, sped from the scene in Charleville, Co Cork, and was discovered hanged 15km away.
The tragic boys’ parents Tom and Ellen were shopping in nearby Kilmallock, Limerick, at the time.A security source told the Irish Mirror : “It was a frenzied attack, the boys were stabbed multiple times. It’s understood there are psychological issues involved.”
Other sources last night claimed Jonathan was adopted before the O’Driscolls later went on to have the twins.
The nine-year-olds, who were being minded by older sibling Jonathan, died in separate bedrooms hours after he collected them from school.
Their bloodied bodies were found shortly before 5pm by their younger brothers, aged three and five.
The toddlers then raced from the home and began screaming for help through a neighbour’s hedge. As a major emergency operation swung into action, Jonathan, 20, fled the scene.
He was found hanged from a tree by a riverbank in nearby Buttevant, an hour later.
The scene at the family home was last night described as horrific.
One source said: “Those poor little boys suffered a shocking death.”
Last night, the events leading to the shocking double killing remained unclear – but sources said the killer must have “just snapped”.
A next-door neighbour who raised the alarm said: “We were at home at about 5pm and the two young lads came over to the hedge.
“They were screaming at the top of their voices. They were roaring for my dad. We rang the [police] straight away.”
Schoolboys Patrick and Thomas – members of the settled Traveller community – were described by a neighbour as “a pair of rascals”.
Relatives were too distraught to comment last night.
Jonathan was minding the two boys while their parents were six miles away in Kilmallock, Co Limerick, and had collected them from Bawnogue school.
A car was seen driving away from the house after the attack in Deerpark, and just over an hour later Jonathan was found dead.
He was discovered by three children – a 10-year-old and two 14-year-olds.
HSE Air Corps air ambulance, based at Costume Barracks, Athlone, was dispatched to the family home to take the boys to hospital, however it was quickly stood down when it became clear the twins were already dead.
Ambulance crews from Mallow were met by the horrific bloody scene.
Around 30 grieving family members and friends gathered outside the small cottage, which was sealed off last night.
Local priest Fr Tom Naughton said the tragedy had shaken the entire community.
He added: “I am shocked, I know the family myself. I have prayed with the family before. Obviously any family who would have experienced a tragedy of this nature would be devastated.
“This it is deeply upsetting for any community, especially for one as close-knit as we are. We will offer our support to them, the whole community will be behind them at this very difficult time.”
Friends of the family took to Facebook last night to pay their respects, with one saying: “God it’s a sin what happened them two twins today, may God help the family that lost two beautiful children, may God give them a good bed in heaven.”
Another posted: “RIP to the two twins TomTom & Paddy that were stabbed to death, so sad two innocent children.”
A distant relative of the two boys said: “It really is a sin. God only knows what pain Thomas and Ellen are going through waiting years for their twin boys to only have nine years and their lives were taken.”
Police confirmed in a statement last night: “Officers in Charleville, Co Cork are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of the bodies of two young boys in a house in Deerpark, Charleville shortly before 5pm on September 4.
“They were pronounced dead at the scene. The bodies remain at the scene and the area has been sealed off for technical examination, diversions are in place.

Microsoft Expected to Launch Phone Laptop Hybrid Unveiling Windows 10

Weve been talking about Microsofts important Windows 10 event since late November, and finally, it goes down tomorrow. Because Rumorville never sleeps, we have a few last-minute hints at what might go down tomorrow.

The most interesting rumor involves a "phone-laptop hybrid", one that gave me the immediate thought of someone holding a 13-inch notebook to their ear. One would be to bundle an LTE chip inside of the notebook that would allow people to place calls through the device (either using speaker phone or a headset), while another would be a clone of Apples OS X feature that lets you pair your phone with your notebook to handle calls in much the same way.

Aside from that, Microsoft is expected to show off Windows 10s design that involves the same code base across its entire platform. Phone or PC, the OS will be similar at its core (excluding obvious issues if the device uses a non-x86 processor), allowing developers to target more than just one type of device when publishing an app.

Congruency across the product line is one of Microsofts biggest goals with Windows 10, so it might not come as much of a surprise to learn that the companys two separate app stores are set to become one - phone and desktop just wont have a reason to be separated anymore.

It does seem likely, though, that not every app will automatically run on every device just because it uses Windows 10, as different classes of hardware have different capabilities.

Phone-Laptop Hybrid Unveiled

Whatevers going to be announced tomorrow, something tells me that the event is going to do well in hyping the Windows 10 train up even more.

Nvidia wants to ban imports Note 4 and Galaxy S5 for Patents – Nutech

Nvidia, maker of graphics chips, Samsung and Qualcomm sued for patent infringement around such chips, and wants an import ban.

Nvidia wants an import ban on some recent Enforce Samsung devices with the American authorities. Include the just-announced Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 4 Edge but the S5 Galaxy, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab Pro may Nvidia blacklisted.

It is the first time that a company Nvidia patent infringement to court challenges, reports the Wall Street Journal . According violate Nvidia graphics chips in many recent Samsung handsets are patents. Remarkably, this mainly for chip designs that Samsung purchases from other chip makers.

Samsung says towards Reuters that the indictment “by all means” will challenge it. Samsung phones are used in both chips in its design as chips include Qualcomm. That company is sued. Nvidia has not made clear what compensation would have it.

Qualcomm still refuses comment. ARM, a chip maker that Samsung has licensed the related designs for graphics chips also did not respond. Nvidia says to consider whether it is needed even more companies to complain. For patent infringement case by case Samsung has been conducting longer such a struggle, mainly against Apple

How to earn money fast Build a Windows Phone app and get £60 000

Microsoft is looking to encourage developers to produce apps for its Windows Phone platform, paying out vast amounts of money to get devs on board.

With the Windows Phone ecosystem still struggling to gain a serious grip on the market, being dwarfed by iOS and Android, latest reports have claimed that Microsoft is giving developers up to $100,000 (£63,000) to get high-profile app developers to turn to the Windows platform.

Sadly, this isn’t everyone’s answer for how to make money fast. Microsoft is said to be saving the big bucks to target developers with a proven track record of crafting popular, profitable applications for rival platforms, namely those made by Apple and Google.

"My friends in Silicon Valley say Microsoft has been offering $100,000 or more to companies that will build Windows Phone apps,” a reporter for Bloomberg said in a recent article. They stressed that Microsoft has paid key name developers more than $100,000 to get them to develop for Windows Phone.

Although the Windows Phone platform now has more than 145,000 apps, it still lags a long way behind iOS and Android, both of which what are closing in on the 1 million apps milestone. What is more troubling for Microsoft, however, is the continuing lack of high-profile apps that are becoming something of a must have.

With Windows Phone still a system that is frequently overlooked by developers, earlier this year rival BlackBerry suggested that although it will be bringing its BBM system to iOS and Android in app form later this summer, Microsoft’s OS is still too small to be considered.

“When we look at critical masses and we look at other mobile platforms, iOS and Android at this point in time stand out to us,” Vivek Bhardwaj, Head of BlackBerry’s Software Portfolio, told us. “We are not excluding other platforms, it is just our focus needs to be on those that can get BBM to the masses and the data shows that iOS and Android make up the bulk of mobile users around the world.”

Opera Mini beta for Windows Phone now available for anyone to test

The first public beta version of the Opera Mini browser for Windows Phone is now out in Microsoft’s dedicated app store. You can grab it and test it on your device, as long as it runs Windows Phone 8.x.
The beta was announced last week, when Opera prompted people to sign up in order to join its “beta testing group”. That seemed to imply that only those who signed up would be able to play with the Opera Mini beta, but that’s not the case – anyone can get it from the Windows Phone store.

This browser represents Opera’s first foray into Windows Phone territory. Opera Mini makes pages lighter, so they load faster and consume less data. It can go so far as to reduce a page down to 10% of its normal size. It also lets you share content easily, and browse safely.
Speed Dial, the well known home page is in, as is Smart Page – which lets you see instant updates from all of your social sites on one screen.

Samsung

As we approach 2015, the year of the launch of the flagships of each mobile phone manufacturer, we are gradually discovering new information about mobile ahead. Samsung Galaxy S6 South Korean Company Samsung has been one of the latest to star in a filtration in which it is said that one of the novelties of this terminal could be your data connectivity. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S6 incorporate mobile Internet connectivity LTE Cat 10 type , which means that this smartphone could reach download speeds of up to 450 Mbps through the data rate.

This development would be possible in the variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos processor, as indicated from the US website SamMobile. Apparently, Samsung is working on right now incorporate LTE Cat 10 connectivity to Exynos 7420 processor eight-core is expected to incorporate the new Galaxy S6, as we have shown above benchmarks.

Samsung

Assuming that this information is true, the only thing to bear in mind is that this variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos processor only would go to markets like the US or Asia. Meanwhile, European users would have to settle for the variant with the variant with Qualcomm processor which, in principle; this will be accompanied by data connectivity.

Making a compilation of information that has leaked so far about the Samsung Galaxy S6 can see that this smartphone is very likely to occur with a 5.5 inch screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor eight cores 3 gigabytes of RAM, 32 gigabytes of internal storage (expandable probably via a microSD card) and the Android operating system in the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Microsoft Windows Phone 8 1 Denim update to ‘roll out soon’

Microsoft has revealed its next big Windows Phone update is nearly ready, codenamed ‘Denim’.

The firm’s Lumia Twitter page responded to a fan that enquired as to why the update still hadn’t landed, despite promises for a Q4 2014 launch.

The post read: “It will roll out soon following testing and operator approvals.”

New features expected to ship with the software update include improved Cortana functionality, as well as 4K video support.

There’s no telling when Microsoft is actually going to release the update however, with the ‘roll out soon’ tip frustratingly vague.

Whatever the case, the Windows Phone moniker for Microsoft’s mobile operating system is running out of time.

At an unspecified time next year, Microsoft plans to drop Windows Phone entirely, instead opting for the Windows 10 tag across all platforms.

Microsoft’s platform-unified Windows 10 will bring a one-for-all app store and better cross-device functionality.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know when the big Windows 10 change-up will happen either, although we’re expecting a pseudo-unveiling at Microsoft’s Build conference in the middle of 2015.

Other features of the new unified OS include desktop-friendly Cortana and the return of the Smart Menu.
