China Mobile could delay iPhone 6 launch until 2015

The newly announced iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus may have received more than 4 million pre-orders in 24 hours, but the two devices are facing a delayed launch in China.
At this point its really unclear when the iPhone 6 will arrive in the worlds biggest smartphone market. Not even China Mobile knows. And thats the countrys biggest carrier, with around 800 million customers.

According to an unconfirmed report, Apple has yet to get its new iPhones certified for sale in China by the countrys Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which has apparently failed to reach an agreement with the Cupertino-based company on the matter. Without this certification, you simply cant legally sell phones in China, so the situation isnt looking good for Apple.

In fact, it may have to wait until next year to receive said certification and hence be able to launch the iPhone 6 in China. This could come as a pretty big blow in terms of sales in the fourth quarter of 2014.
In the meantime, China Mobile will focus on selling unsubsidized 4G capable smartphones for the remainder of this year. Company execs have predicted that by the end of the year, 70% of the 4G smartphones it sells will cost less than 1,000 yuan ($162). But there will also be handsets priced at less than 600 yuan ($97).
As it starts focusing more and more on such mass-market offerings, China Mobile plans to cut around $2 billion in subsidies for mobile phones, a move which will affect sales of high-end devices made by the likes of Apple and Samsung.
To get an idea of how big these subsidies are right now, lets consider the iPhone 5S. It currently has a list price of 5,288 yuan ($860) when purchased with a contract. China Mobile will subsidise up to 88% of that value (bringing the upfront cost down to 635 yuan, or $103), but in that case you need a plan that will set you back 388 yuan ($63) per month.

This browser represents Opera’s first foray into Windows Phone territory. Opera Mini makes pages lighter, so they load faster and consume less data. It can go so far as to reduce a page down to 10% of its normal size. It also lets you share content easily, and browse safely.

Samsung

As we approach 2015, the year of the launch of the flagships of each mobile phone manufacturer, we are gradually discovering new information about mobile ahead. Samsung Galaxy S6 South Korean Company Samsung has been one of the latest to star in a filtration in which it is said that one of the novelties of this terminal could be your data connectivity. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S6 incorporate mobile Internet connectivity LTE Cat 10 type , which means that this smartphone could reach download speeds of up to 450 Mbps through the data rate.

This development would be possible in the variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos processor, as indicated from the US website SamMobile. Apparently, Samsung is working on right now incorporate LTE Cat 10 connectivity to Exynos 7420 processor eight-core is expected to incorporate the new Galaxy S6, as we have shown above benchmarks.

Samsung

Assuming that this information is true, the only thing to bear in mind is that this variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos processor only would go to markets like the US or Asia. Meanwhile, European users would have to settle for the variant with the variant with Qualcomm processor which, in principle; this will be accompanied by data connectivity.

Making a compilation of information that has leaked so far about the Samsung Galaxy S6 can see that this smartphone is very likely to occur with a 5.5 inch screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor eight cores 3 gigabytes of RAM, 32 gigabytes of internal storage (expandable probably via a microSD card) and the Android operating system in the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. New pictures of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – All About Phones

Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 4 on September 3, and the closer we get to that date, the more information is leaking out about this unit. Now, a new photo posted online in which the appliance is in a revealing case, so that the design can be.

New photo of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 183 221 galaxynote4dummycasefull

Such items make manufacturers more often to models and which is not yet officially presented, so it still remains a bit of a surprise. The shell in this picture is rather square and blocky and the only thing good to see, the screen, the connector at the bottom and the size of the latest phablet from Samsung.

In addition to this picture is also put online a screenshot showing that the Note 4 on Android Version 4.4.4 running – which is not a big surprise, since this is the latest version – and the TouchWiz interface. The model number of the Note 4 is to judge SM-N910T. At the plate

There is also a short video online where someone put a prototype of the Note 4 tries to operate, which is not very successful. The film offers very little information.

So we fall for further information on the four discs, but back on the rumor mill. Which indicates that the resolution with respect to the discs 3 is pumped up from 1920x1080p to 2560x1440p, with a screen size remains the same as that of, at 5.7 inch. There would be a Snapdragon 805 processor in it and a 16-megapixel camera.

Monster Crew Android Game Review

Monster Crew: Smash and grab the loot in this endless platformer!

Finally we’ve found a uniquely stylised game which is fresh and original in multiple different ways.  Keep reading to hear more…

Gameplay

You play as Frankenstein and need to run through the spooky infested halls whilst destroying pretty much everything (and not killing yourself in the process!).  You’ll keep running forever and one tap the screen will make you jump.  Tap again and you’ll stomp down destroying anything below.  Most likely you’ll find some coins in the process but otherwise you can pick up a lot of loot just lying around in the stage.  But hey… it’s way more fun to just destroy everything!

In essence this it very much like Jetpack Joyride – for those of you who haven’t heard of this game: Jetpack Joyride is probably one of the best endless runner games around and its addition of micro reward missions and upgrade packs have made it an incredibly addictive game.  Monster Crew has adapted this winning formula and put it into their own platform game.  The fundamental game differences are that Monster Crew is broken up into short levels which go from right to left as well as the classical left to right, and it is ultimately a platformer where the enemies are trying to attack you.  There’s also an energy bar instead of the insta-kill style of Jetpack Joyride.

Mini mission fun

Let’s be honest… prancing around endlessly through medieval hallways can get tedious quite quickly.  So sets of mini target missions are placed into the game to help to break up the monotony.  These small objectives vary from collecting coins to smashing targets and keep you entertained through the repetitive corridors.

Story Fun

Upon completing a pack of mini missions you’ll get a new story set as well as more targets.  These little comic sketches are pretty damn awesome – the fab graphics and great stylisation breathes more life into the game and makes it very entertaining.

Game extras

The upgrades for your character, Frank, are set at quite expensive levels.  But aside from these powerups there are also bonus cards which you can use to boost your abilities within a level.  You can strategically cast these at the beginning of every level in order to maximise on coin collection.  Unfortunately, like a deck of cards, you’re randomly assigned a hand and you can’t just stick to the cards you find helpful.

Rating: 4/5 Monster Crew is a great twist on an endless runner game.  It has the game structure of Jetpack Joyride but with more variety and complexity.  It’s got a slight money grabbing feel which tarnishes it’s name and could deter you from coming back to keep playing.

Monster Crew Tips and Tricks:

  • Many objects can be be destroyed – even the ones which don’t look like crates.
  • Focus on surviving longer to get better rewards.  This means that you should not be too greedy and focus on avoiding the enemies and obstacles.
  • Very often running into one enemy can cause you to lose alot of energy because it’s very difficult to leap over them after the initial collision… so really focus on avoiding enemies.
  • If Frank is moving from left to right, and you’re right handed then there’s a tendency to tap on the right of the screen.  If this is the case, then tap slightly higher on the screen so you’re not obstructing your vision.  Otherwise try tapping with your left hand instead.
  • There seems to be no way to see your inventory/deck of cards, so the simplest suggestion is to not use them until you’re sure the benefits will have great impact.  It may seem like you’re accumulating cards unnecessarily, but otherwise you’ll be drawn into an endless spending cycle.
  • Focus on completing the missions to get more reward bonus cards.

Microsoft Unleashes First Lumia Phone Without Nokia Brand

The first Lumia Phone by Microsoft without the label Nokia is great departure. Microsoft comes out with a new chapter in branding and mobile devices.

Microsoft launches Lumia 535 on Monday, its first Lumia phone by dumping the brand label Nokia. In April, 2014 Microsoft bought the brand Nokia in a $7.2 billion deal and got the authority to launch new Lumia phones on its own, and also allowed to keep the brand name Nokia for a short period of time.

This new Lumia device runs on Windows 8.1, the latest mobile operating system by Microsoft. It possesses a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and has a great picture display with a 5-inch and 960x540 pixel density.

Microsoft still awaits for the jump-start as the operating system still holds only just 2.5% stake in mobile devices across the world. In comparison, Googles Android runs on more than 85% of mobile devices across the world.

Microsoft has already sold 9.3 million Lumia phones in this quarter, its almost 5.6% above the Lumia phones sold in the previous one.

Seagate prepares 10TB hard drives

Seagate

The hard disk manufacturers are engaged in a race to develop solutions with higher capacities. Storage needs of its customers, both companies and individuals, are constantly growing and they must maintain sustained growth. Each company addresses the challenge in different ways. Seagate has just unveiled their intentions for next year. Right now its higher capacity hard drives can store 8 terabytes (TB) of data. However, the company plans to soon announce new models 10 terabytes. To achieve this will keep betting on the same technology currently used, called SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) or magnetic recording overlay.

Seagate does not rely on other technologies proposed by the competition, such as helium gas fillings hard drives, which is the Western Digital prefers. Those responsible for Seagate technology consider helium gases are too expensive to introduce it into affordable products. The SMR technology achieves 25 percent more capacity by increasing the number of tracks per inch on a single disc. The procedure used to achieve densities area is decreasing the space between tracks. The tracks are now superimposed over each other, like shingles on a roof. That way, you can write more data in the same space. According to new data will be written, album tracks are cut. Data can be read reliably track cut without affecting its integrity because the reader head unit is smaller than the write head.

Seagate

The SMR technology provides high reliability in data recovery and is also low power consumption. Also has the advantage of allowing use of traditional readers and write heads, which lowers production costs. So, Seagate has created these 8 TB hard drives capable of storing 1.33 TB per plate of the same disc, which currently markets. And during 2015, you can launch similar but 10TB products. It was not until the period between 2016 and 2017, when Seagate migrate to a new technology known as Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR), which will allow increased capacity of future drives between 20 and 30 percent each year.

In September 2014, Seagate had its tough economic disks to cloud storage. It is high density units, with a high capacity of up to 8 terabytes (TB). The manufacturer claims to offer a low cost per TB with low power consumption. They are equipped with a system of balanced rotational vibration. These disks are 3.5 inches with a height of about 2.6 inches. They have a SATA 3 interface, which offers 6 Gbps (gigabits per second). Work at 5,900 rpm (revolutions per minute) and incorporate 6 plates and 12 reading heads. In short, are products that are designed to withstand workloads than 180 terabytes per year for 24 hours x 7 days a week.

How Apple Was Reinvented and What Team Cook Has Brought Us

In the wake of the launch of two new iPhones and also the Apple Watch, many would say that Apple CEO Tim Cook has brought the company he took over from Steve Jobs into a new era. In an extensive interview with Businessweek, Cook and several other Apple executives talked about the ways in which the company has changed in the last three years, and whats going to happen going forward.
Some of the details that come out in the interview are already well known - for instance, the fact that Steve Jobs office has been left untouched after his death in 2011. "It felt right to leave it as it is," Cook told Businessweek. "Thats Steves office."
The interview also reveals a company thats more reactive to the market. The iPhone 6 Plus in particular is a big departure for Apple, and a clear reaction to the popularity of phablets. But the Apple Watch could also fall into the same category. A lack of new product lines had been dogging Apple since Cook took over, and things could have reached a breaking point with the companys stock dropping by 40 percent last year. According to Businessweek, this made Cook "accelerate the Watch project." Apples Jony Ive told Businessweek, "Its probably one of the most difficult projects I have ever worked on."
There is also a lot of interesting detail about the changing culture at Apple. From the small, "renegade" teams that made the Macintosh and the iPhone to a large team that blends various disciplines together to make the Apple Watch, the company has gone through some clear changes.
"We would never have gotten there in the old model," Cook said. These new products are reminders "of why we exist. The things we should be doing at Apple are things that others cant."
The Watch is just one of the big new changes that Apple has brought in. The other one is Apple Pay, an NFC-based mobile payments service. Users will be able to pay for their shopping by holding a finger against the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, instead of having to take out their credit cards. The idea isnt exactly new - the concept was first extolled by Sony as far back as 1989, and NFC was approved as a standard as far back as 2003. The technology came to Android in 2010, with the Nexus S.
But Apple has been able to garner large scale support for its payment system and this could be a game changer in a way that technology alone cant be. Apple has secured at least 200,000 retail locations in the US for the launch of Apple Pay, including including Bloomingdales, Duane Reade, Macys, McDonalds, Sephora, Staples, Subway, Walgreens and Whole Foods Market. With support for credit and debit cards from American Express, MasterCard and Visa, issued by banks including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo, Apple has accounted for 83 percent of the credit card purchase volume in the US.
Apple is famous as a company that finds its own way, so to see the company working towards joint solutions, both inside and outside, is a big change. As Businessweek points out, this was not how Apple functioned under Jobs. Businessweek writes:
The company Cook inherited was broken up into specialized groups devoted to hardware, software design, marketing, and finance, all working separately and sharing little information with each other; they didnt need to because the overarching vision resided in Jobss head.
Under Cook, this would change, and he told Businessweek of some of the benefits of this change - its made it possible for features like Continuity, where you can take a call on your iPad or send messages from your Mac, seamlessly switching between your different devices.

"We would never have gotten there in the old model," Cook said. These new products are reminders "of why we exist. The things we should be doing at Apple are things that others cant."
Of course, these culture changes also brought culture clash. As Businessweek reports, some senior people left Apple because of the changes:
To one former senior designer, accustomed to spitballing sessions with Jobs to go over details as minute as the look of screen icons, the company no longer has the same allure. He says he left because Apple grew too large and that products once created in small groups are now done in sprawling teams. Others chafe at Cooks insistence on financial discipline; in meetings once devoted to the hallowed act of reviewing products, he asks managers pointed questions about spending and hiring projections, says a person involved. Staff from finance and operations now sit alongside engineers and designers in product road map sessions with key component partners.
Team Cook
The biggest changes that have emerged, it is clear, lie in the personality of the organisation. Apple might not have let go of its secrecy or high end products, but in other ways, Businessweek reports that the company has gone through a lot of change.

You can see this in the kind of responses that people outside Apple gave Businessweek for the article. Ginni Rometty, IBMs chief executive, called Cook the "hallmark of a modern-day CEO. Its all about clarity of vision and knowing what to do and what not to do." Carriers say there is more of a personal touch. "Tims a tough negotiator," said Glenn Lurie, CEO of AT&T Mobility, whos been working with Cook since before the release of the iPhone in 2007. "Hes a very consistent guy, and that makes it a lot easier to do business with him."
Cook "is comfortable enough to say we need help here, and then he goes out and gets it," said Jimmy Iovine, who became a part of Apple when it acquired Beats Electronics.
The tone inside the company is equally positive. Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Apple, told Businessweek that the core Apple team is not likely to fragment. "A lot of us at Apple are here because we love the products," he said. "We think we are making the best products we have ever made as a company." Other executives shared similar sentiments with Businessweek.
"I feel damn proud to be working as a part of Tims team," said Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President for Internet Software and Services. "If he gets a little bit of recognition from the outside world, that is great. He deserves a lot more than he is going to get."
