Thats the buzzword these days especially on social media, its so popular that even kids know about it,
but have you ever thought about how this selfie thing came about, or who started it, my guess is no!
Today am gonna reveal the person that took the first selfie photo and how he did it.
The First ever known Selfie was taken by Robert Cornelius in October or Novermber1839, about 176 from now.
Below is the photo of Robert Cornelius, the first man to take a selfie.

A selfie as most of you know is a photograph that one has taken of oneself, usually taken with a smartphone or webcam held in hand or with selfie stick then shared on social media such as facebook, twitter, instagram etc.

HOW DID HE DO IT
Robert cornelius then 30 year of age set up his camera at the back of his fathers shop removed the lap cap, ran into a frame and sat still for 5 minutes before returning the lens cap. This act was believed to have created the first photograph ice self- portrait (selfie)
Popularity
The term selfie was discussed by photographer jim Krause in 2005
In the early 2000s before facbook became the top social network that it is known for today.
selfies were usually found on Myspace.
Mostly popular with young people selfie became much more popular by the end of 2012 even time magazine considered selfie the buzzword for that year.
The popularity of selfie on social media is jaw dropping.
